In 587 BC, life as they knew it was over for Israel: Temple
destroyed, Davidic line ended, land taken away. Had God abandoned
Israel? Was God in control? How could they be God’s people? This class
will explore responses to the Exile found in Jeremiah, Ezekiel and other
Old Testament books and will consider parallels with our own

Saints for Today: Exploring
Famous Saints and Their Models of Spirituality
Six Tuesdays January 13 to February 17

Using the new book, “God Seekers: 20 Centuries of Christian
Spiritualities” by Richard Schmidt, we will explore in depth famous
saints and their different approaches to scripture reading, meditation,
and prayer. Among those to be studied are Augustine, Patrick, Benedict,
Bernard, Luther, Ignatius of Loyola, the Wesleys, and a number of
contemporary authors. The teacher is Rev. Dr. Warren Crews,
Adjunct faculty, Eden Theological Seminary, retired associate rector,
Emmanuel Episcopal Church, who holds a doctorate in American Church

How to Handle Conflict in the
Congregation
Saturdays January 17 and 31 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Lead by a pastor
and counselor who works daily with congregational leaders in conflict,
this is a class for clergy and laity interested in learning how to keep
congregations healthy and what to do when leadership goes wrong in the
congregation: early, mid and late stages. The teacher is the Rev.
Dale Kuhn, Executive Director of Care and Counseling agency.
